Graduated from University of California at Los Angeles magna cum laude and from Pepperdine University School of Law. He became a member of the California State Bar in 1981 and the Nevada State Bar in 1984. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Central District of California, United States District Court for Nevada, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
Is originally from Western New York. He attended Cornell University and, later, Arizona State University, graduating with a degree in History. Mr. Parks earned his law degree at the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. While in law school, Mr. Parks was on the law review staff and the Board of Editors of the Pacific Law Journal.
Brian A. Carness is a welcomed addition to Schimmel & Parks. Mr. Carness received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Oregon in 1999, where he focused on international relations and international environmental law. In 2004, Mr. Carness received his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law. While at Pepperdine, Mr. Carness obtained a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, the #1 ADR program in the nation. Mr. Carness excelled in moot court and trial practice, and took 1st place as the top student in Negotiation and Settlement Advocacy. Mr. Carness was a recipient of the Dean's Award, and was a student mentor from 2002-2004.
