Brian A. Carness is a welcomed addition to Schimmel & Parks. Mr. Carness received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Oregon in 1999, where he focused on international relations and international environmental law. In 2004, Mr. Carness received his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law. While at Pepperdine, Mr. Carness obtained a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, the #1 ADR program in the nation. Mr. Carness excelled in moot court and trial practice, and took 1st place as the top student in Negotiation and Settlement Advocacy. Mr. Carness was a recipient of the Dean's Award, and was a student mentor from 2002-2004.
Mr. Carness has worked with the top attorneys in the nation. His experience includes construction defects litigation, insurance bad faith, securities fraud, intellectual property, entertainment litigation, personal injury, premises liability, products liability, complex auto litigation, as well as representing assault and battery victims in their civil actions.
Mr. Carness is admitted to practice law in the State of California and before the United States District Court. He is currently seeking admission to practice law in Washington D.C. and the State of Washington. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice (formerly ATLA), the Consumer Attorney's of California, the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the San Fernando Valley Bar Association. In his spare time, Mr. Carness is an avid fisherman, martial artist, and snowboarder.
