Michael Parks Discusses The Buildup Of Construction Defects Claims with San Fernando Valley Business Journal

Schimmel & Parks Partner Michael Parks was quoted in the San Fernando Valley Business Journal article, “Building Up for a Boom in Construction Defects,” discussing the 10-year statute of limitations that will soon expire for many homeowners who purchased a home in the mid-2000s. Spending about 40 percent of his time on construction defect lawsuits, Mr. Parks comments, “Tens of thousands of homes and condos were built in the construction boom. As people regain the value in their homes, they will want to protect it. We are anticipating more activity in the residential construction defect practice.”

The article notes that the most common alleged defect is water intrusion through the roof, windows, door or foundation slabs, and advises homeowners on what steps to take if they suspect defects.
